Preheat your oven to 350F 175C

Stir in the hot water until the batter is smooth
Fill a twinkie or cylinder-shaped silicone mold with the batter, leaving a little space at the top
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean
Allow the twinkies to cool in the mold for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely
For the filling, beat together the vegetable shortening, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy
Once the twinkies are completely cool, use a pastry bag or a plastic sandwich bag with the corner snipped off to fill each twinkie with the cream filling
