Santa Cupcakes
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
- Red food coloring
- White frosting
- Mini marshmallows
- Red sugar sprinkles
- Mini chocolate chips
- Black decorating gel
- Candy canes optional
Instructions:
Warm up your oven to 350F 175C and put cupcake liners in a muffin tin
Mix the cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl with a whisk
Mix the butter and sugar in a different bowl until they are light and fluffy
One egg at a time should be added while beating, and the vanilla extract should be mixed in
Three parts of the dry ingredients should be added, one after the other with buttermilk
The dry ingredients should be added first and then the buttermilk
Dont mix any further than that
To make the Santa hat the color you want, add red food coloring
Use about two thirds of the batter to fill up each cupcake liner
Put it in the oven and bake for 18 to 20 minutes, or until a toothpick stuck in the middle comes out clean
On a wire rack, let the cupcakes cool all the way down
Cover the cupcakes in white frosting, but leave a little space for Santas face
Put a small marshmallow on the frostings edge to make the edge of Santas hat
On top of the marshmallow trim, sprinkle red sugar sprinkles
For Santas eyes, use small chocolate chips
Draw Santas mouth and mustache with black craft gel
For Santas hat pom-pom, you can add a small piece of a candy cane to the frosting if you want to
